Is First Choice Homecare, Inc. a Medicare contracted provider?
-YES. Due to a new program called the DMEPOS Medicare Competitive Bid, homecare companies had to compete to win a contract with Medicare to provide certain equipment to patients. First Choice Homecare, Inc. won the contract to continue to provide CPAP therapy to those with Medicare insurance. This contract is only a concern to those who live in specific zip codes and have straight Medicare as their primary insurance. For more information on the Medicare Bid and to see if you are affected please call our office at (440) 717-1984.
I already have a company providing me with equipment and supplies. Am I allowed to switch to a new company?
-Yes. The patient has every right to choose their own medical equipment company. If you are dissatisfied with your current company, we would be more than happy to see what we can do for you. Just call our office and we will take care of it from there.
Do you provide home nursing care?
-No. We are not a staffing agency for nurses or home health aides. However, we are more than willing to help coordinate nursing needs for those who require it along with their equipment and supply needs.
Does First Choice Homecare, Inc. provide the medication for Nebulizers?
-NO. First Choice Homecare, Inc. will gladly supply your aerosol machine, but we are not a pharmacy and cannot fill your prescription for the medication.
When am I eligible for new equipment and supplies?
-Supply and equipment replenishment guidelines are determined by your individual insurance company. Most supplies can be replaced every 1-3 months in order to be covered by your insurance. If you have any questions just call our office and we will be happy to check on what supplies you may need to re-order.
Why is my insurance billed every month for my equipment and supplies?
-Most machines are what we call a “rent to purchase”, meaning is it considered a rental and billed to your insurance every month until it reaches a certain payment price. Once a certain amount is paid by your insurance the rental is converted to a purchase and you then own the machine. Since most supplies can be re-ordered every 1-3 months, we will bill your insurance when new supplies are shipped out or delivered.
Can I travel with my equipment?
-YES. Most equipment provided is portable and small enough to be packed away during travel. If you are traveling by plane, you may carry on your medical equipment without it counting against one of your carry on items. If you are traveling by plane with oxygen please contact our office as certain arrangements may need to be made in advance.
What if my insurance will not pay for a certain item?
-You always have the option to pay out of pocket for any item you may need that your insurance will not cover. However, some items are only provided through prescription sent by your doctor.
What if I do not have insurance?
-We understand that some people may require medical attention regardless if they have insurance or not. We will do our best to provide you with the equipment you need at a reasonable cost to assist your medical needs. We will not turn you away because of lack of insurance, but you may be responsible for out of pocket costs. Financial arrangements need to be made prior to services provided.
